Outdoor rinks in Calgary

Choose the activity before the rink: a leisure skate and a hockey session need different permission and space. Calgary's official outdoor skating page separates City locations from volunteer-run and community association options, with links for checking the specific site.

Use the comparison checklist

Identify who runs the rink

The City's outdoor skating page links to its park locations and points to volunteer-run rinks and community association options. These are separate routes for finding information. City-operated leisure skating rules should not be treated as a description of every association rink. Read the relevant operator's page for the place you intend to use.

Check the session, not just the address

The City asks visitors to open the selected park page for rink status. Its listed leisure skating areas do not allow hockey sticks or nets, so someone looking for hockey needs a different operator or session that expressly permits it. Check changing space, rentals and washrooms individually; a park's facilities may be separate from its skating area.
