Use those resources to prepare questions for a designer about planting suitability and future care. Ask for the mature dimensions and maintenance expectations of proposed plants. A newly installed garden and an established garden demand different work, so discuss both stages.
Define what happens below the finished surface
The proposal should identify removals, soil work, drainage assessment and the boundaries of any irrigation or hardscape work. Retaining walls and fences have their own City guidance; ask who resolves approvals when they form part of the design. Confirm substitutions before plants arrive, including how size and species changes affect the plan. Make cleanup, disturbed-area reinstatement and the establishment visit or care instructions explicit. Plant replacement terms should be written separately from general installation promises.
