Learn the fundamentals of shaping stone and creating a finished sculptural piece with artist and Soapstone master Michael Emery.In this guided, beginner-friendly introduction to soapstone carving, participants will learn basic carving techniques, safe material handling, and simple hand-sanding methods using water to reduce dust.With the ability to choose from a small set of pre-selected shapes and designs, participants will be able to create a finished sculptural piece.The emphasis is on process, experimentation, and creative confidence rather than artistic perfection.No prior experience is required, and each participant will leave with a completed stone carving they created themselves.Materials Provided: YesDates: Wednesdays, starting July 1st until end of summer.Time: 4:00 PM - 5:30 PMAges: 8-15Registration Price: $50 + GST | FeesAbout the Instructor:Michael Emery is a sculptor and workshop facilitator with decades of experience working with natural stone and hands-on creative processes. His workshops are welcoming and accessible, focusing on process over perfection and designed for people of all experience levels.Michael is the founder of Unique Soapstone Experiences, offering engaging, skill-based carving workshops for individuals, schools, community groups, and organizations.
