Celebrate Starlight's new non-fiction memoir with Durvile & UpRoute Books.In "See-Me Street," DerRic Starlight shares his experiences living on the streets of Calgary, Lethbridge, and Edmonton. Known for his puppeteering comedy, he walked away from the stage to confront homelessness and recovery head-on. Through diary entries and photographs, Starlight shares insight into the chaos and courage of street life, and the kinship that kept him alive. At the event, expect music, puppet comedy and delicious snacks catered by Soopz Kitchen.About the AuthorDerRic Starlight is a member of the Tsuut’ina Nation, with family ties to the Blackfoot Confederacy. A comedian, puppeteer, screenwriter, and former wrestling promoter with the Hart family, he began learning puppetry as a teenager inspired by Jim Henson. He later trained in film and acting in Vancouver, Toronto, and Arizona. Since 1997, he has toured with his cast of Native puppet characters and appeared in APTN productions, earning a Gemini Award for voice acting. In 2021, he joined The Jim Henson Company for the Calgary-based reboot of "Fraggle Rock."Hosted in partnership with Durvile & UpRoute Books and Calgary Public Library.
