Rosso Coffee Roasters, founded in 2007 by David Crosby in Calgary's Ramsay neighborhood, began as a single café at 803 24 Ave SE and has grown into a specialty coffee roaster with multiple locations across the city. The original Ramsay site now houses the roastery, while cafés operate in areas like Stephen Ave (140 8 Ave SE), Victoria Park (425 11 Ave SE), Inglewood (1402 9 Ave SE), National Music Centre (850 4 St SE), 17th Ave (103 17 Ave SE), and Tuxedo (2102 Centre St N). Headquartered in Alberta, the company roasts premium, ethically sourced beans using a unique North American process that sorts every green and roasted bean with AI and spectrometry technology to remove defects and ensure consistency. Services include small-batch roasting of single-origin coffees, each detailed with tasting notes, source, varietal, process, and farming info; in-house pastries, breads, seasonal soups, and sandwiches at cafés; and a wholesale program offering operational support, waste management compliant with City of Calgary standards, equipment training, and beans shipped across Canada. Baristas trained by Rosso have earned top credentials, including the 2024 World Barista Champion (Mikael Jasin, Indonesia) and 2023 champion (Boram Um, Brazil). B Corp certified since August 2022 with a score of 80.9, Rosso tracks CO2 emissions, uses plant-based packaging, and follows sustainability practices that extend beyond economic goals to environmental and social equity.
