Hearing services in Calgary

A hearing assessment and a hearing-aid purchase are not the same decision. Explore who provides the assessment, which ages they see and whether the booking includes a device discussion. Alberta has separate regulators for audiologists and hearing aid practitioners.

Use the comparison checklist

Start with the right professional and pathway

ACSLPA provides a public service directory and registration information for audiologists. It notes that its service directory includes only participating members and is not exhaustive. Its guidance also describes routes to publicly funded services. Hearing aid practitioners have a separate college, CHAPA. Ask the clinic which professional you will see and verify that person through the appropriate regulator rather than treating every hearing-clinic title as interchangeable.

Read the service terms around the device

If a device is proposed, ask for the assessment findings to be explained before choosing a model. Request written information about the fitting process, follow-up visits, repairs, warranties and any trial or return terms. Ask how support works if you move or the original practitioner is unavailable. Keep the device price separate from recurring supplies and service charges so the comparison reflects the actual commitment.
