The CCOA Roadmap to Care describes health history, examination, reporting of findings and informed consent. It says patients can ask questions about their care and that consent is required before examinations, tests or procedures. Ask the clinic whether an initial booking is assessment only or may include treatment, and when you will receive an explanation of the findings.
Keep choices visible throughout care
Ask what the proposed approach is intended to address, what alternatives exist and how progress will be reviewed. If imaging or another service is proposed, ask the chiropractor to explain its purpose in your case. The roadmap also describes renewed consent when new or different care is proposed, and your ability to request records. Discuss how those records would be shared with another professional if needed.
