Use an access conversation to narrow the search

Recovery Alberta publishes a Calgary and area access number, 403-943-1500, for non-urgent information and appointments about addiction and mental health concerns. Its services search and helplines page are public starting points without an account. Ask the intake team which pathway fits the concern, whether a referral is required, and what information they need before arranging an assessment.

Look past the admission date

Ask a programme to explain assessment, admission and discharge as separate stages. Who determines the care plan? What happens if the programme cannot meet a need identified during intake? Ask how existing mental health care or prescribed medication is coordinated with the relevant professionals, and what follow-up is arranged after discharge. A place in a programme and a complete support plan are not the same thing.
