Alforno Bakery & Cafe brings Italian-inspired baking and casual dining to downtown Calgary, Alberta, as part of the Teatro Group, which opened its flagship restaurant in 1993. Since launching in 2015, Alforno has operated multiple locations across the city, including the flagship in Eau Claire at 222 7 St SW, First Street Market at 1327 1 St SW, Livingston Place at 222 3 Ave SW (South Tower, 2nd Floor), Eighth Avenue Place at 525 8 Ave SW Suite 210, Gulf Canada Square at 401 9 Ave SW Suite 240, 707 5th Street SW at #100, and CF Chinook Centre at 6455 Macleod Trl. A new West District site is forthcoming. The cafes focus on house-made pastries and artisan breads baked fresh daily, such as sourdough loaves, multigrain loaves, traditional croissants, almond croissants, and seasonal savoury danishes. Breakfast options include bacon or veggie sandwiches with egg, cheddar, and aioli on ciabatta. Lunch and brunch feature upscale dishes like eggs benedict with Mans organic poached eggs and Alforno hollandaise, pastas, pizzas, and sandwiches made with daily fresh ingredients. Complementing the food is a sustainable coffee program using Fratello Coffee Roasters' locally roasted Alforno blend, alongside organic teas like earl grey and chai, and gourmet hot chocolate. Beverage selections extend to curated artisan wines, beers, and spirits from Teatro cellars. Most locations offer dine-in with counter service, takeout, delivery, and grab-and-go for downtown workers in areas like Eau Claire and surrounding neighborhoods. Hours vary by site, with the Eau Claire flagship open daily from 7:30am to 9:00pm.
