Alberta Council on Aging’s membership is comprised of groups, individuals and organizations in the province of Alberta. Alberta Council on Aging is Alberta’s only provincial non-profit, charitable, non-government umbrella organization representing seniors. Funding is obtained through donations, grants and membership fees.

We now boast over 700 members with a volunteer base of about 300. There are 40 plus classes offered throughout the year, as well as numerous special events, dances, club activities and seminars. We’re the Calgary Seniors’ Centre with a ton of fun activities! Drop by the Centre for a coffee and sign up for a membership. We’d love to have you join us. + 55 Connections Social Club

If you are single and 55 years of age or over and near retirement or already retired you may be interested in expanding your social network. +55 Connections is a group for singles to meet for activities and friendship. This is not a matchmaking service. We provide a comfortable atmosphere for everyone that would like to meet others their own age that have similar interests and wish to enjoy a fun filled social life with friends. Activities include pot luck dinners, games nights, lunches, and picnics in the summer. Come and meet us for coffee any Thursday morning at 10:30 am. Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens’ Association (CCECA) is a non-profit social service organization. It has been serving seniors and new immigrants citywide since 1985. It provides a great variety of services and programs, from social activities and community support to health services. Its current membership exceeds 5,100 people. We empower and advocate for Chinese older adults to live a happy and independent life. To provide a supportive environment for the enhancement of the well-being of older adults.

 

 

Calgary South West Seniors Club

We are a fun loving group that meets every Thursday morning from 10:00 to 1:00. We have a live band (old time fiddles, piano, guitar) and dance until noon, then once a month have a pot luck dinner ($4.00), a bring your own bag lunch for the rest of the month. We have special catered dinners for Easter, and Christmas, announcements, for other weekly activities, such as bowling, cards and coffee and a 50/50 draw.

A parking placard and/or disabled licence plate enables those unable to walk 50 metres (150 feet) to use specially designated parking facilities. The placards are issued to individuals who provide proof of eligibility under this program. An applicant requesting plates must either have the vehicle(s) registered in the name of the person with the disability or be a joint owner on the vehicle registration.

Located in Calgary, the Club is a meeting ground for members 55+ to share with others their love of downhill skiing in the Canadian Rockies and beyond. The Club attracts fun-loving, interesting people from all walks of life. The Club offers affordable prices for ski tours at locations with some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Also offered are ski days, ski improvement programs, carpooling, and social functions that include monthly dinners and semi-annual dinner/dances as well as an annual summer barbecue and the Jack De Lorme Golf Day.

 

 

Skrastins Outdoor Club

Our members are active seniors (55+ yrs) who participate in day trips every Friday to hike, cross country ski, and snow shoe on established trails, mainly in the foothills and mountain parks west of Calgary. Our group offers security in being with others and comfortable coach bus transportation. Activities include city walks during the shoulder seasons. Different levels of fitness and ability are accommodated. New members and guests are welcome.
