ADHD and Hormones Series: How does ADHD impact perimenopause?ADHD and Hormones Series: How does ADHD impact perimenopause?This webinar will provide an insight into the emerging research that has established a link between ADHD and increased difficulties during perimenopause. Alongside exploring the international research, Christina will present findings from a study conducted in UCD with ADHD Ireland and the HSE National Clinical Programme for ADHD in Adults that explored how women with ADHD in Ireland experienced perimenopause. This study identified challenges related to ADHD traits, mental health, and body image, difficulties accessing healthcare, and some positives linked to perimenopause. Techniques and resources related to perimenopause will be provided.BiographyDr Christina Kini-Seery is a researcher working in Maynooth University on a project investigating mental health supports for individuals living with chronic health conditions, and is one of the facilitators for ADHD Ireland’s Understanding and Managing Adult ADHD Programme (UMAAP). She previously worked in University College Dublin (UCD), where she was researching the lived experience of women with ADHD going through periods of hormonal changes. Her PhD in Psychology, also from UCD, was conducted in collaboration with ADHD Ireland and the HSE National Clinical Programme for ADHD in Adults. For her PhD, Christina co-developed and evaluated the ADHD in Adults App and UMAAP.
