Community Day Homes

The Churchill Park Family Day Home Program is a government contracted agency that approves and monitors Family Day Home educators, operating child care programs in their homes.

Our Approved Family Day Homes :

1. Work under the guidance of Churchill Park. The Family Day Home program is accredited through Accreditation of Early Learning and Care Services (AELCS).
2. Are screened- through a series of interviews including all family members, personal references and application questionnaires.
3. Provide police checks (renewed every 2 years) and child welfare information checks for all residents of the home over 18 years of age.
4. Have First Aid certification (renewed every three years).
5. Adhere to Family Day Home Standards set out by the Alberta Government (children’s services).
6. New Educators participate in an orientation process that includes training modules, evaluations and self-reflection.
7. All Educators have an annual assessment including self-reflection, parent feed-back and Consultant evaluation.
8. Receive monthly monitoring visits plus additional visits for the first few months after opening.
9. Educators have the opportunity to attend monthly workshops facilitated by Churchill Park to increase their knowledge of child/day home related topics.
10. Educators who are unable to attend workshops have the opportunity to complete monthly training modules (provided by Churchill Park) to increase their knowledge of child/day home related topics.
11. Have ratios in place to ensure small group sizes and a low number of infants per home.
12. Back up care possible(based on availability).
13. Smoke Free homes.
14. Liability insurance.
15. Emergency policies in place.
