Volunteers wanted for the Calgary – Light the Night Walk benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) Location: Calgary, Alberta Light the Night is the LLSC’s annual 5km walk and fundraising event – a night of solidarity and hope. This enchanting event is in support of the many people diagnosed with blood cancer and paying tribute to those claimed by it. On October 21st, 2017: friends, families, co-workers and supporters will gather at Eau Claire and Festival Market to walk in the twilight, holding illuminated lanterns – Red for Supporters, White for Survivors and Gold to remember ones lost. Light the Night We are currently seeking energetic, fun-loving people for a variety of roles: (between 9am-10pm) • *Volunteer Coordinator – Lead and organize volunteers for the day. • *Registration – Registering walkers for the event and receiving donations. • *Accounting – Process donations the night of the event. • Lantern Assembly – Putting together the red, white and gold lanterns of the event. • Volunteer Check In – Direct volunteers as they come to Eau Claire. • Kids Zone – Providing a fun experience for the little walkers and their families. • VIP Area Runners – Making sure incentives are set up in the tents, and assisting the participants with anything beforehand. • Route Marshals – To cheer on walkers as they progress through the route, and answering any questions that arise during the walk. • Greeter – Greeting the walkers as they first arrive to Eau Claire and direct them to the area(s) they’re looking for. • Clean Up – Post Event. Leaving the event site as we found it. • Set Up – Set up tents and site outside. • Other Roles * Denotes mandatory attendance to a volunteer orientation session prior to the event date. This inspirational event is a great way to engage in the community, to give back in a meaningful way, to expand your network, and to build your resume.
