Calgary's parks and pathways are an excellent way to relax and enjoy the local outdoors. With over 10,000 hectares of park area and the longest (700km) urban paved pathway system, it is easy to enjoy yourself while exploring the city. Several of the parks offer family friendly picnic sites complete with picnic tables, fire pits, covered cook houses and sporting facilities. Fish Creek Provincial Park, located in South Calgary is one of the largest urban provincial parks in Canada. The provincial park is over 20km wide, running from Calgary’s west side city limits, east to the Bow River. Almost every community in Calgary enjoys a park nearby.
