Meet this brother-sister duo who lived in China back in 2004 teaching preschool-aged kids all the way to high school ages. Since then they’ve come a long way running separate businesses and growing as trainers and coaches. Now they’re coming together again to offer an exciting new Montessori preschool in Calgary that unites their love for growth and exploration. Your kids will develop a passion for learning because we have a passion for your kids to learn and grow! Your kids will enjoy our program because it takes into consideration their needs and your wants. Your time and involvement matter. We have the highest regard for our Directors because we have raised the bar of the standards we have for them. At our Calgary Montessori preschool, we have the highest standards. We are basing our preschool on the Montessori model as well as on Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences that gives room for independence, growth, and the promotion of discovery and the love of learning.

The Tour of Alberta Ride the Road tour is a public bike ride in Calgary that kicks off the Tour of Alberta. There are a total of four rides that are perfect for both advanced cyclists and families. This year's ride, as in previous years, affords an opportunity to enjoy cycling in a group or with your family under traffic-free conditions. Participants will be able to discover cycling and feeling completely safe on Calgary roads. There are two feeder rides from north and south Calgary to Stanley Park followed by a children's ride and the main public bike ride. The suburban spoke rides are inbound only while the main hub ride around downtown Calgary and the children's ride are a circuit. The north and south spoke rides are restricted to adults and young adults on geared bikes. Children under ten years old lead the Hub ride out of Stanley Park then return on their own 2 km route. Children ten and older as well as everyone else are welcome on the main Hub ride. The main family Hub ride is about 40 minutes at a leisurely pace from Stanley Park (4011 1A St SW) looping around downtown Calgary. You can cycle on roads without traffic that will feel completely safe thanks to Calgary Police Service rolling closure. However, the motorcycle police escorts support the North Spoke Ride from Tuxedo Source for Sports (2520 Centre St N) and the Hub Ride from Stanley Park. The South Spoke Ride from Shawnessy YMCA (333 Shawville Blvd SE) is unescorted by police. Only experienced cyclists and adults, comfortable riding on the road, should sign up for this ride. You will ride as a group and obey all rules of the road. There is an elevation gain as the peloton departs Fish Creek Park through the suburb of Canyon Meadows. Participants should be confident of their abilities. A family registration is for four people - two parents and two children or one parent and three children. There is no charge for children six years old and under. Parents of young children are encouraged to bring child trailers for the family ride.

Performing his unique blend of wild country rock, featuring songs from his debut album “Dirt Junkie”, Bruin will showcase his talents as a singer and songwriter, and prove why he is destined to become a household name in the country music world. At 23 years old, this Saskatchewan native may be starting out his music career, but is quickly gaining fans with his entertaining shows and catchy country tunes. Praised by Nitty Gritty Dirt band member, John McEuen, as one of the top songwriter’s he’s heard in years, Bruin clearly has a bright future ahead of him and a name worth remembering. It has been ten years since Minsoo Sohn’s triumphant win at the 2006 Honens Piano Competition. His poetic vision, masterful virtuosity and deep musicianship continue to garner praise from critics and audiences around the world. The New York Times called his 2011 recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations a “beautifully articulated, radiant interpretation”, naming it one of that year’s top classical recordings. Mr Sohn was born in Korea and moved to Boston in his teens to study with Russell Sherman and Wha Kyung Byun at the New England Conservatory. HIs studies extended from his freshman year to the Conservatory's most prestigious degree, Artist Diploma. Today he lives in Seoul and serves on the faculty of the Korean National University of Arts. This homecoming concert, featuring Mr Sohn’s convincing account of Beethoven’s final three piano sonatas, is sure to deeply move the Honens Festival audience.

On September 9-11, 2016, an expected 400 Marchers and Crew will make the unforgettable 3 day, 100 km walk from Kananaskis Country to Calgary. Our scenic journey begins at the Millarville Race Track and ends at Canada Olympic Park. Kidney disease affects 1 in 10 Canadians. Our goal for Kidney March is to raise awareness by raising historic amounts of money for the cause. To date, we have already raised over $4 million through Kidney March to support kidney disease prevention, lifesaving research, patient support programs, and organ donation initiatives. Kidney March also creates a sense of community for people affected by this disease. There’s still time to sign up as a Marcher or Crew member. Visit kidneymarch.ca to learn more. Feel free to come out and cheer for our Marchers. Thank you for your support!

Pianist Marc-André Hamelin returns to Calgary for the first time since his sold-out Honens recital in 2010. Mr Hamelin is ranked among the elite of world pianists for his unrivaled blend of musicianship and virtuosity in the great works of the established repertoire, as well as for his intrepid exploration of the neglected music of the 19th and 20th centuries. The Washington Post wrote that his “technical facility is breathtaking: The piano quivers and trembles under his thunderous assault, but his sensitivity is also superb.”
