We are proud to announce that this summer marks the 30th anniversary of Pumphouse Theatre’s popular Summer Drama Day Camps! We are thrilled to bring you yet another season of excellent programming for Calgary youth. Our summer camp program is an introductory course that focuses on teaching the basics of theatre with an emphasis on creative personal growth. Participants will also learn respect for the theatre space and other performers while having fun! Each day at camp is a new experience. Participants will be divided into mini-classes, covering a variety of acting techniques, speech, movement, playwriting, and stage-craft, with an emphasis on group work that helps to develop social skills on many levels. Throughout camp, participants work together within their age group with the guidance of an instructor and a counselor to put together a play. On the final Thursday of sessions 1,3 and 5, and on the Friday of session 2 and 4 participants will have the opportunity to showcase their new talents to family and friends by performing this group-devised production. The camp is for children between the ages of 8 and 14, and each session is limited to 50 students. For class work and performances, each session will be divided into four groups based on participant age. Theatre experience is not a pre-requisite for this camp, and we welcome and encourage children of any level of experience! Session Dates: Session 1: July 7 - 18 (10 day) Session 2: July 21 - 25 (5 day) Session 3: July 28 - August 8 (9 day) Session 4: August 11 - 15 (5 day) Session 5: August 18 - 29 (10 day) Prices range depending upon the chosen session. For more information or if you have any questions about our upcoming summer programming, please visit our website or contact our boxoffice.

For the last 3 years; we held our downtown office tower Farmer’s market and it was a success! So much so that we have been asked to bring it back for the 4th year for once a month starting July; the dates are: Wednesday July 23rd, and August 20th. Our client Bentall Kennedy LLP owns & operates various ‘A” category buildings in prime locations ( primarily Livingston Place, Jamieson Place, BP Centre and Intact); we work with them to bring unique items for their tenants to enjoy. In the past we have had various live entertainment, festivals and experiences, plus last 3 years a One day Farmer’s Markets, which as mentioned was success! There is presently no fresh food or grocery stores close to these buildings and we know the tenants loved the opportunity to purchase fresh items from local producers. The building management as well as we encourage people to come down by having live entertainment and food trucks on site during the lunch hour but soon to be announced new this year we will be added an additional draw to bring people down We are having the One day Farmer’s Market on Wednesday July 23rd and August 20th from 10am-2pm, they have a beautiful plaza outside between the 2 towers of one of their buildings; we are looking at inviting a maximum of 20 vendors to participate. Due to the maintenance required for an event like this our client is only asking for $50 per day; you would only need to bring all the items you would require to set up and your fabulous products. Cheques would be payable to our client. If you are interested in participating please let me know as soon as possible. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Sincerely,

For three moonless nights in July and in August the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory is open to the public for late night observing. Drop in for a chance to observe alongside our research scientists. If conditions are clear then we will view distant planetary nebula, globular clusters and galaxies. We will have several telescopes operating and many opportunities to view the night sky as well as several astronomers on hand to answer your questions. Milky Way Nights are a special event that focuses on the public coming to the observatory to look through a telescope and learn more about the night sky. There is no formal lecture; however we will do our best to point out the highlights of the summer sky. No need to pre-register. The event is out of doors, so please dress for the weather. You can bring a flashlight and do not forget bug spray. If the sky is cloudy then we will not be able to operate the telescopes. If very poor weather conditions persist then the observing event is cancelled. Watch the RAO website for sky conditions and updates. Entrance fee: donation to the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory

A chance for all the youth, families and friends of all ages and stages of life to gather for a week away to be refreshed and be inspired. There will be great preaching of the old-fashioned camp meeting. We have been involved in youth camps for several years and know that camp changes lives and helped our churches. Our Youth Camp is largely unstructured allowing ample opportunity for the Holy Spirit to work in our midst. We gather throughout week for worship, preaching, campfires, ball games, board games, a presentation night of each teams and of course lots of time to fellowship and EAT! We would love to have you join us this August! We have limited cabin space available so feel free to bring out your trailers and of course tents! For three moonless nights in August the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory is open to the public for late night observing.

YWCA WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES® is an annual fundraising event which raises money to support the work the YWCA of Calgary does to break the cycle of family violence and help keep women and their children safe. Although family violence is a very serious matter, this fun and light-hearted event asks registered male participants to take a stand against family violence, strap on a pair of heels and walk two laps around Olympic Plaza. Only men can participate in the walk, but women play a huge role in this event by encouraging and challenging the men in their lives to register and fundraise for the YWCA of Calgary.

Solid Rock Baptist Church of Calgary recently held evangelistic meetings in six different parts of the Philippines. The meeting places included Tacloban which was devastated by Typhoon Hayian (Yolanda) in November of last year. The response to these meetings was very enthusiastic with about one hundred and fifty Filipino pastors from independent Baptist churches and many more persons in attendance. Seven preachers from the United States and Canada spoke at the Pastor's School in Tagaytay (near Manila) to conclude the series of gospel meetings that were held in Bicol, Tacloban, Iloilo City, Baladjay (Antique) and Davao (Mindanao) over a five week period. Over seven hundred Filipinos came to this meeting and nearly fifty persons from Solid Rock Baptist Church in Calgary, Canada. Many lives were changed as a result of the strong preaching. Another Pastor's School will be conducted in February 2015 to provide ongoing encouragement and help for the pastors and churches in the Philippines.
